The DNF List
I don’t always finish books, even if I paid to read or listen to them!
I usually get 20-40% through a book before abandoning it, and I typically abandon a book if the story meanders too much or if I encounter topics that I’m not interested in reading about. Or if it just isn’t an interesting plot. Entertain me! Occasionally I’ll go back and try reading it again, especially if I DNF’d out of boredom. Or I’ll even pick up the e-book if the audiobook wasn’t working for me. I am weirdly picky about narrators.
If it’s square, I listened to the audiobook. If it isn’t square, I read the e-book. (If I recall correctly, I’ve read exactly one paperback-hold-in-your-hand novel in the last 15 years.)
If you’re the author or publisher of one of these books and want to know why I DNF’d it, reach out – dnf@loveagoodbook.com. Some of these came from Netgalley, so you may already have my feedback.
